I was diagnosed in February 2002 as a
diabetic and have been struggling to keep my blood sugar levels
down with my diet. I have wanted to avoid going onto the
medications that lower it artificially because the medication
can lower the blood sugar too much. Blood sugar that's too low
can cause other problems such as confusion and even loss of
consciousness or coma in severe cases. Being a diabetic can be a
major balancing act that takes lots of time and effort.
I've been using the Balance Bands since October, 2003. I now
make my goal of eating five vegetable servings almost every
single day.
I usually limit myself to just one serving of fruit because
fruit contains natural sugars which raise my blood sugar, and it
takes a little planning to incorporate fruit into my food plan
so the carbohydrates (sugars) are properly balanced with
protein.
Diabetics are constantly being told, "Veggies are our friends."
They are basically a "free food," with no bad effects on our
blood sugar. But when we eat a lot of veggies, we get full on
fiber and that helps us make wise choices to avoid eating foods
that aren't good for us.
At my diabetes checkup after I'd been using Balance Bands for
several months, I got great news -- my
blood test results show that I am NO LONGER a diabetic! I
have improved my health with the help of Balance Bands to the point where I am not
considered diabetic by
my physician,
and I've done it WITHOUT medication. I am still considered to
be "insulin resistant", but with continued good eating habits,
my doctor feels that I will maintain status as a non-diabetic.
My doctor has cut back my self-testing of my blood sugar level
(the finger-stick blood test) from 3 times a day to only ONCE a
day. I was able to maintain good levels for the next three
months, and I was able to cut it back even further.
Pam, thank you for freeing me from a finger-stick blood test
before every meal. Instead of carrying around the testing kit,
now I wear my Balance Bands. These bracelets are subtle and
discreet -- no one knows their significance unless I tell them.
This is totally unlike the process of blood testing when I was
in public -- I'd have to answer questions about the kit or what
I was doing, or I'd have to hide out in the ladies room to do my
test. Those things made me feel different and somehow "sick."
The Balance Bands just make me feel prettier and quietly help me
to become healthier. What a difference!
Thank you so much for this simple reminder system. It's no
big deal for me now to be able to eat my five servings of
vegetables each day, but the REALLY BIG DEAL is what kind of an
impact the Balance Bands have made on my health and my attitude.
I know this is a long message, but I wanted to share the good
news about what the Balance Bands have done for me. (And I'm
just a little excited about the good news I got!) Thanks again
to Pam and Balance Bands.
